Summer 2018 Wedding Trends

The wedding industry’s creatives (and Pinterest users!) have spoken - the wedding trends to watch for in 2018 are as imaginative and fresh as you could imagine! From floral updates, new foods, and decor trends - there’s much to be excited for. Today’s couples and planners can Incorporate pieces and elements of them into their own unique wedding design - for a celebration that is both now and forever timeless.

Grab your wedding planner (or trusted friend) and pull out your wedding vision board - it’s time to plan!

Florals, Reimagined

Individual centrepieces on each table are being replaced with living botanical bars, potted plants along ceremony aisles, and even dedicated floral archways. It goes without saying that florals are now taking the centre stage, second to only the bride!

Making a return from their introduction in 2017’s chicest weddings will be hanging floral installations. These are not only a wonderful way to create visual interest to a space, but also makes room for bigger statement plates and place cards on the tables; one of 2018’s other returning trend.

Wonder what a “living” botanical bar is? It’s simply a way to bring the outdoors, indoors - by adding interest to the ‘watering hole’ with floral accents, vines, and even wreaths. But just make sure you’re well-stocked - done with style; what was already a high-traffic area of the reception might get even busier!

Textured Linens

Neutral territory is anything but boring when it comes to linens! As we head into our second wedding season, we’re seeing a returned interest in high-quality, textured linens. Not only do they pay homage to our West Coast temperament beautifully, but they demonstrate a keen attention to detail, showing an eye to sustainability over speed.

Get the look - we suggest Natural - Oatmeal linen and napkin.

 A Touch of Drama

Today’s brides are bravely moving away from the pastels (momentarily, anyway!) and headed into a bolder approach to their big day. Muted palettes are being replaced with moody, courageous and unexpected pairings of bold colours, textures, and even inspiration taken from different cultures and points in history. 2018’s weddings du jour are sure to leave their impact with striking accents of black, copper, jewel-toned florals, statement candles, and unexpected flair.

After the After-Party

The only thing that could come as a runner-up to a beautiful reception? An after-party that keeps guests on their toes and dancing late into the night! Changing the venue, the outfit, or even just the music… there are many ways to keep the party going. Many of our brides today are thinking of unique late-night snack options; many which bring back those easy, careless childhood memories - nachos, anyone? A little fun and nostalgia goes a long way in planning a memorable wedding!

Adventurous Stationary

Texture reigns supreme this year, and not just for linens - we’re seeing wedding invitations and placecards that push the boundaries beyond paper. Incorporating varying textures, materials, and even natural elements into the stationary pieces are a surefire way to bring your wedding into 2018’s hottest lookbooks. Fabric, acrylic, leather, metal, and even wood - anything goes! Can’t pick just one? Try layering them for extra interest.

Concluding Thoughts

As much as we love a good trend - nothing compares to putting your own unique stamp on your special day. We’d love to help make that happen for you - we’ve paired with the industry’s leading wedding planners, and have some excellent recommendations for everything from floral artistry to fine furniture rentals.

And it goes without saying, that we can bring your tablescapes to life with the linens that are just right.
