Newly Engaged? Tips to Help Plan Your Wedding

They popped the question and you said an enthusiastic “yes”! Corks were popped, champagne poured, and the engagement ring sparkled as if on cue. As the excitement builds, all that’s left is to plan the wedding (and maybe show off the engagement ring many times).

Where do you begin?

Here are a few answers to common wedding planning questions.

Question One: How Long Does It Take to Plan a Wedding?

There are many factors to consider when figuring out how long it will take to plan the wedding of your dreams. Visualize your ideal nuptials. Are you looking to plan a grand affair at a posh hotel, or perhaps a Caribbean destination wedding, or a simple, intimate backyard affair? Do you want to get married in the summer or in the fall?

Once you have answered these questions, commit to your wedding date, budget, and venue. Some couples elect to marry as quickly as possible, while other couples are able to plan a grand affair in a short amount of time.

Generally, it will take between nine months and two years to plan a wedding, with an average planning time of fifteen months.

Question Two: Where Should I Focus My budget?

What is the most important thing you must have for your wedding? Answering this questios determines where to focus your budget.

If having lasting mementos of your wedding day is important to you, put money toward hiring an outstanding photographer and videographer.

If having amazing decor and ambience is your preference, put money toward hiring a decor designer.

If it’s important to you, set aside money for it.

Question Three: When Should I Send My Save-the-Dates and Wedding Invitations?

Save-the-Dates are usually sent four months before the wedding. However, if you are planning a destination wedding, consider sending them 8 to 12 months beforehand to give your guests time to prepare.

Wedding invitations are sent 8-9 weeks before local wedding ceremonies and 2-3 months before destination wedding ceremonies.

Question Four: How Many Guests Should I Invite to My Wedding? Who Should and Should Not Come?

The amount of guests you should invite will depend on the type of wedding you choose to have.

The average wedding guest count is 150. Intimate weddings and destination weddings, on the other hand, may have about 30 guests.

No matter the final tally, be sure to invite people you want to share this important day with. For intimate weddings, that may mean excluding some family members and friends.

Question Five: How Much Do Linen Rentals Cost?

Linens are a stylish way to achieve your chosen wedding look or theme come in a range of different fabrics and colours.

Linen rentals include table cloths, napkins, and pillows. Fabric and linen size factor into rentals costs. For example, at Faire la Fete Linen Rentals, the rental fees for basic poly/linen tablecloths start at $29.00.

Heavier fabric, such as velvet tablecloths, start at $59.00.
